Working Out is a Choice

I used to be quite chubby and plump growing up as a kid due to my late grandmother’s never ending feeding me with food especially with her home cooked dishes, it wasn’t possible to stay away . LOL So growing up, I kept eating and eating and never really bothered exercising as it was pretty darn tedious and exhausting. Until… one day this dude from church called me fat continuously week after week and I was actually affected by it and felt sad 🙁 HAHA and so I decided I should stop! (LOL, I’m actually quite thankful that it happened if not I would probably just continue eating and be a fat blob.)

However, the way I tried to lose weight then was really unhealthy as I only ate one meal a day. The rest of the time when I’m hungry, I would force myself to sleep so I can forget about the hunger. It was indeed torturous, but at the age of growing up and wanting to get attention from the opposite sex, I enjoyed how people would pay me compliments saying I look really good because I lost so much weight and asked how I did it. I was heaviest at 65kg and managed to lose all the way to 48Kg. But of course since my eating isn’t consistent, this weight fluctuated tremendously and even though I was “Skinny” I felt constantly tired and didn’t feel like I’ve the strength and energy to do anything..

I would also easily put back on the weight that I’ve lost once I ate too much… so this battling of being skinny and fat continued on until I decided maybe its time I should start working out.. Below is the photo before I started working out a few years ago at my brother’s wedding. (LOL, Don’t judge!) I think that was me at 50-52KG.. I’m 50KG now and the amount of difference is tremendous LOL and at least I feel alot toner now and healthier! But I’m still working hard to reach my goals at the end of the year! (trying to get at least like a nice cut cause ABS IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET in my opinion OMG!) But also, I’m really like a foodie, so I cannot stay away from Waffles and Ice cream man 🙁 But abs is really all about the diet… So blahhhhh! I shall reconsider my priorities and decision haha. But, i’m really addicted in trying to get a nice ass now. HAHA reallllyyy… when you see fitness Instagram accounts showing women’s perky ass, that feeling is just like “OKAY! MANNNN IM SO MOTIVATED RIGHT NOW CAUSE I NEED THAT ASS” LOL

I’ve learnt one thing, weight doesn’t really matter, because I could be like 55KG but who cares? If i’m toned and I look healthy and fit then weight is just another number! Remember, working out is a choice and I guess how I motivate myself is by knowing “One of the greatest moments in life is realising that two weeks ago, your body couldn’t do what it just did” The feeling is just amazing when you see improvements and know that you’re one step closer to your goals.

I definitely don’t have an amazing body now, but after seriously working out and trying to have a proper diet now and then (trying my best to eat correctly lol) since 4 months ago, I feel much happier and the mindset is just different, you feel a lot more positive and you start to tell yourself you can do it! Also, when you start seeing changes in your body, you’ll want to push yourself even more. At least I look a lot fitter compared to the old Jac!

My journey of working out actually only started 4 months ago with the Miss Suba Pageant girls at The Strength Yard ( and here’s one of the photos where I just started learning about squats HAHA! and was only learning to squat an empty bar then. I’m thankful for the people I met there cause without them I wouldn’t be working out 3 times a week and prioritising working out and learning so many things that I didn’t know before!
