Thailand has always been one of my favorite countries to visit whenever I’m in need of a short getaway to de-stress and I head to Bangkok at least 3 times a year! What’s there not to love about Thailand? Cheap shopping and super good food! What’s better? Airlines such as AirAsia offers really good deals for flight tickets and I just purchased mine 2 weeks ago at 50% off for my next trip to Bangkok in September.
My most recent trip to Bangkok was to attend the launch of Thailand Shopping and Dining Paradise 2017 organised by Air Asia and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. There were 3 teams from Singapore, Hong kong and Vietnam (each team had the help of a Thai blogger) to win the title of AirAsia Top Shopper! From our very own Singapore team, we had Jill Marie Thomas, Rebecca Tan, Roz Pho as well as Cinddie and alongside with 4 other bloggers to support and cheer them on! Look at how prepared everyone of the teams look because the winning team will walk away with a 1 year supply of unlimited flights from AirAsia + 100,000 THB. Say whuttttt?
Team Hong Kong
Air Asia have recently launched a new menu for their inflight service and of course I had to try their meal on board! I picked the Salmon Bento set, doesn’t it look tasty? After arriving at the airport, we were quickly transferred to our hotel at Centara Grand and I have to say this is one amazing and atas hotel to stay in! I’ll definitely be considering this hotel when I’m back here again. We had an amazing welcome dinner at Cafe Chilli located in EmQuartier. It was a really superb dinner as the dishes were all really tasty and needless to say, the ambience is top notch as well! We all went back satisfied and all ready for the next day where the competition begins!
Welcome flowers! So pretty!
The competition was kicked off with an opening ceremony and all teams were ready to compete against each other by completing all 6 missions with the fastest timing and least amount spent, to shop around Bangkok for the best shopping buys and delicious local food with only a budget of 47,000 THB for each mission.
Just look at all these images below and you can really tell how enthusiastic team Singapore was throughout the day taking part in the various challenges and giving their all!
It was really hilarious seeing them on Instagram live as they were multitasking trying to get some help from their viewers yet at the same time trying to quickly complete the challenge so they can move on to the next mission! So much energy this group, if it was me, I would have died halfway LOL! But I guess, seeing them shopping, eating, traveling and having so much fun at the same time made me cheer them on really hard!
Rebecca trying really hard to get a discount hahaha and she did it!
All done with their shopping and quickly heading back to Asiatique to end off the challenge!
Since we’re at Asiatique, how can I pass the chance of taking a shot at the iconic Ferris wheel. Hee Hee! Isn’t the view gorgeous?
At the end of the day, they had to put up a fashion show during dinner with the things that they had bought! They entertained everyone so much that the whole place was filled with laughter. Jill Marie Thomas even wow-ed the crowd with her incredible voice! Unfortunately Team Singapore did not win (Congratulations to Team Hong Kong!) as it was a tough fight between all 3 teams. However seeing their enthusiasm and energy throughout the whole day, we all had so much fun and they put up a really good show which makes them winners as well!
Thank you Air Asia and the Tourism Authority of Thailand for organising this! I had a really fun time and can’t wait to be back in Bangkok in September!
